From the Health Room - Flu Season

As expected, the flu has hit South Carolina at an epidemic level. Now that school is back in session, everyone is gearing up for the impact. Teachers are reminding students to wash their hands often and cover their mouths and noses when coughing. Frequently touched surfaces are being cleaned using products that kill the virus. Students who come to school with a cough, fever or sore throat are being seem by the school nurse and sent home if needed. New Heights Middle is working closely with the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) regarding any additional recommendations they believe will prevent or contain the illness.....(click link above for entire message)...

January is School Board Recognition Month

The students at New Heights Middle School benefit every day from the dedication and commitment to public education of our Chesterfield County School Board members. They all make personal sacrifices and spend countless hours tending to Board business. It is often a thankless job, so let’s all say, “Thank You!” to the men and women who serve on the Chesterfield County School Board of Education.

Volunteers Needed to Help Plan PTO Events

Calling All Parents: Would you like to become more engaged in the New Heights PTO? Do you have time available to help during the school day? Do you have fundraising ideas? If so, a meeting to plan the PTO events for the second half of this school year will be held on December 18th at 9:00am in the main office conference room. Come join us! Who knows....maybe breakfast treats will show up :)

NHMS Students earn placement in Eastern District Honor Band

NHMS students earn Eastern District Honor Band placement:

Congratulations to Zoe Falkenberry, Miah Threatt, Carson Mack, and Tyrek Shaw for earning placement in the Eastern District Honor Band. They will travel to South Florence High School in January for a two day clinic with other top band members from 7 different counties.

2014 Junior Scholars

Congratulations to our seven Junior Scholars. These students qualified by making a 50 or more on the PSAT: Kylie Mangum, Genna Rivers, Aleah Nicholson, Kylie Sims, John Haigler, Cheyenne Cardwell, and Noah Spriggle.

Parent Academy/PTO

will be held on Thursday, December 4th. Morning session at 9:00am with Meagan Ard, ALPHA Center. Evening session at 6:00pm with Stacee Moser, Chesterfield County Youth Development Coalition.

Jr. Beta Club Induction

Ceremony was held Thursday, November 13 at 6:00pm. Congratulations to our new Jr. Beta Club members!

Academic Awards for 1st Nine Weeks

6th grade @ 8:15am; 7th grade @ 9:15am; 8th grade @ 10:15am. Parking available in front of the school on the grass.
