Chromebook Information
We will begin collecting Chromebooks from 7th and 8th grade face-to-face students starting tomorrow Thursday, May 18, 2023. Sixth grade students will turn in their Chromebook on Friday, May 19, 2023. Students must return their assigned Chromebook with the case and charger to avoid being charged a fee:
- Missing Chromebook: $325
- Missing charger: $32
- Missing case: $35
- Cleaning fee: $10
Damages will be assessed at the time of turn in and appropriate fees will be charged. Payment can be made with cash, check, or money order made payable to New Heights Middle School. Virtual students may bring in their Chromebook and charger anytime between May 22 and June 1 until 3:45.
Students must have a label that came from the media center on their charger. If there is no label, students will be charged $32. Students may get a new label if they can show proof that the charger belongs to them. Any other type of label, such as handwritten or printed that did not come from the media center will not be accepted and the student will be charged. Students had opportunities to get labels with “no questions asked” during Winter and Spring MAP Testing as well as Monday-Wednesday of this week. This has also been announced to students throughout the school year on the morning and afternoon announcements.
8th grade students will need to clean off Chromebooks before turning them in. Students may take them home after state testing if they need to clean it off before turning it in. If you do not clean it off, depending on the amount of cleaning necessary, you will be charged either a $10 cleaning fee or charged $35 for a new case. These Chromebooks have to go to rising 6th graders and they deserve for them to be clean and the cases to be free of chips, breaks, and cracks.
It is advised that 6th grade and 7th grade clean off their Chromebooks and keep them free from any type of sticker or decoration to avoid having to pay any cost.
